With the significant increase in the cost of food, some grandfamilies and kinship families, especially those on fixed incomes, may not have ample food to feed their growing family. Federal nutrition programs can help kin caregivers stretch limited budgets, and ensure their families thrive. Learn about the array of federal nutrition programs, such as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), school meals, and afterschool and summer food programs, that are available to help kinship/grandfamilies get the nutrition they need. We will equip you with practical information and resources about these programs, developed by the Network’s subject matter expert the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC), that you can use to connect the families you serve to these important nutrition programs.
