The Grandfamilies & Kinship Support Network’s partner, the National Indian Child Welfare Association (NICWA), hosted a webinar on March 21, 2023, during which a panel discussion was framed with the relational worldview model, an Indigenous model that looks at well-being as a balance between the four quadrants—environment, mind, body, and spirit. Panelists discussed navigating changes in relationships with their relatives from their experience living in a grandfamily/kinship family. Panelists discussed things that helped bring them balance and what support they needed from those around them.
This webinar, co-hosted by Network partner ZERO TO THREE, will address how trauma can present in both kin caregivers and children in their care and how it impacts relational health.
In the first webinar of the series, Dory Thrasher, Senior SNAP Policy Analyst at FRAC, will discuss key topics related to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and grandfamilies and kinship families.
As social service agencies and policy makers grapple with increasing demands for grandfamily and kinship housing, this webinar features two organizations that are providing much-needed housing for grandfamilies.
